Area 3: Health
We seek a community free of toxins, living within a healthy and thriving watershed
We are experiencing increasing drought in the South Veluwe Watershed, with its extensive sandy soils. The soil and water are heavily polluted, while insect populations, especially bees, are disappearing. That is why we stand against the pollution and depletion of water, land, and all living beings. We work to ensure that the water and soil are full of life again, so that biodiversity can flourish once more. We care for the health of our water bodies and our underground aquifer, and we are becoming more resilient to wildfires and climate extremes. In doing so, we strive for a healthy and toxin-free watershed.
Actions
Toxin-Free Community
Together with Grootouders voor het Klimaat, Drinkable Rivers, StreekWaar, and Platform Duurzaam Wageningen, we are campaigning for a toxin-free community within the watershed. We support residents and businesses in finding alternatives to products that contain (agricultural) toxins and PFAS, starting with food and flowers. We call on municipalities to develop policies in support of this goal.

Flowing streams, soil water retention capacity, and fire safety
Together with partners in the region, we explore ways to improve the health of the streams and the aquifer in our area and to increase the soil water retention capacity. We also seek collaboration in developing plans and designs to prevent, limit, and manage wildfires in the South Veluwe Watershed. We do this with the Vallei and Veluwe Water Authority, Vitens, the Renkums Beekdal Foundation, and Drinkable Rivers, as well as with farmers and landowners.
